“Manmade island” or “visionary development” are phrases you might hear about The Palm Dubai. You might also hear about the Atlantis hotel and its aquarium, or luxurious beach resorts set on the Arabian Gulf. Shaped like a palm tree, the archipelago stems from mainland Dubai and offers visitors and residents beach-style living in a metropolitan city.

While all these pieces of information describe feats of vision, technology and determination in today’s age, there are a few more points of conversation the next time you hear someone mentioning The Palm.

The Palm Jumeirah, planned by developer Nakheel (meaning Palm in Arabic). Is one of three Palm developments planned in the city, which sits next to the Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Beach, making it the first sight for adventurous Dubai sky divers.

Dubai’s favourite residential community

Apart from over 14 luxury hotels the Palm Jumeirah boasts, the development is home to more than 10,000 residents, and the preferred choice for visitors from around the world who choose the island as a second home. The Trunk of the Palm is connected to Al Sufouh by a bridge and monorail. The western and eastern sides of the trunk are called the Golden Mile and the Shoreline Apartments, respectively.

On the Golden Mile, there are 10 buildings with over 800 apartments and the Shoreline Apartments consists of 20 apartment buildings. Villas also stretch over the 16 fronds of the palm, with residents enjoying beach-view homes since 2007. Private beaches, running tracks, greenery, and a vast selection of restaurants, spas and other entertainment destinations attract expatriates, locals, world royals and celebrities alike to reside or visit the Palm Jumeirah.
